Default Garmin 176 vs. 176C

I know, I know, you all are getting tired of people asking this question. I have searched the forum for info on these two GPS's. I thought perhaps someone might have some "new" input.
Bluesman, did you get a 176C? Do you like it?Saltybugger you still enjoy yours?

I am going to buy one of the two this Saturday. From what I've read the "color" is hard to see in the daylight. How much better can you see the 176 vs. the 176C??? I am leaning towards the 176C but; cant make up my mind.

Any comments are appreciated.

I posted an answer to someone a few weeks ago that asked the same thing. Nice unit, specially for all that it does!

No. I wanted to since I thought it would fit my needs and I liked the price but I decided it was too small for me to read when running. I'll probably buy the 182 (GRAY).

I have the 176C and really like it. A lot of features and fairly easy to use. I like that it is hardwired when in the cradle and I can take it home and set weypoints and routes. It is nice having every rock identified that would be on a chart. Having the Color makes it easier to read when not in direct sunlight.

I do notice that it is difficult to read when the sun is shinning on the screen. It is also easier to read when you aren't wearing sunglasses. I don't know if grey would be any better or worse.

If I had a bigger boat, I might buy something with a bigger screen, but it fits nicely on the dash.

Regards,
Dave

Kcw Agree with above re the 176c. But despite slight visability problems occasionally, I LOVE the color otherwisw. Buy it. If the screen seems too small, just keep it for the car, hunting, hiking or whatever. It is small enough for all of these and you cannot have too many toys

I have the 176grey with the chip and love it. It is a small display, but the portability is great. It has more features than I will ever use. I take it on friends boats to show them the spots. If you ever upgrade its a great backup.
