Default Lowrance 111

Anyone have any experience with the 10.5 inch model? Looks like a pretty good deal at Boaters world for 1,299.

Tons of posts on this. Buy it before BW changes their price! Best deal on a 10.4 inch screen to be had!

I have one...its a great unit for the price.

Make sure you do the firmware upgrade after you get it home...most ship with 1.1 and the most recent version is 1.4.

I just ordered one too. I will second the customer support concerns at BW, I had an issue with bill to/ ship to on my order it was handled very poorly...frankly I'll be surprised if it arrives...on backorder....

Great picture but after reading the instruction manual, seems like alot of keystrokes to get it to do gps stuff. I tried to download simulator from website and all I got was a huge pic of unit. Seems like they could make it alot simpler
to operate than they do. I used to have a loran that all you had to do was push WPT, 29, NAV. Or WPT enter. Computer geeks must design this stuff. I am sure it will work fine once I learn to use it. They put out an instructional DVD
on this unit. Anyone buy it? Also the maps preloaded in my 111 are so vague
to be almost useless. I really dojnt care about all the roads and on land stuff.
I guess I will just have to buy a Navionics gold chip for my area.

The default map is the one that has all the streets, etc...if you are on the coast, go into Map Data and select Nauticpath. Brings in all the detail, markers, etc...

I called BW today and after being put on hold for 10 minutes a guy who didn't seem to know a whole lot about electronics in general, informed me that they have sold out and don't know if or when they will be getting more.
I have been a BW fan for quite a few years now, they treated me very well in the past, but seem to be slipping.
I called West today and recieved very good service from people who seemed to know/care about what they do. They have a price match policy now, although it has to be a local competitor's price, not online.
A girl at one of the West's here in Jacksonville told me that they had a few 110 Lowrances for $999. She claimed that it's the exact unit minus the map chip. That costs $200. That comes to $1199 right?
Is her information accurate? If so I may buy it.
Anyone know if this is true?

The 110C does not have the hard drive with the preloaded maps. It was a no brainer for me, as I don't need the preloaded maps and wanted the bathymetric bottom contour data that is available from the Navionics chip. The chips are about 180 bucks. Go with the 110

Yeah, I don't see the need for all the preloaded maps , I'll just be fishing NE Florida 95% of the time.
What is the bathymetric bottom contour exactly?
Thanks.

Did you check the local BW store? I bought mine in there for the same price. I know some of the stores still have them....they may just need to find and ship you one.

I'd go for the 111 if you can...especially living in Jacksonville. The charts for the St Johns are included on the hard drive as well as the charts for the coast., but would be a separate Navionics chart.

I tried the Jax and St. Auggie stores and they're sold out.
I called BW customer service, which was "no service" and they weren't sure if they were even going to get any more in stock.
I guess I'll try the Brunswick store for the heck of it.

Most of the stores are sold out as it is a discontinued unit.

Swamppro. How do you know that the 111 is discontinued. There is nothing about that on any websites. Including Lowrance's.

I heard that they are discontinued from West Marine and Boaters World. BW told me that they didn't know if they were getting any more in due to the fact that they are in fact discontinued.
Apparantly BW bought the remaining stock and looks like they are all gone.
Anyone else have any thoughts about the Lowrance 110?

The 111 was replaced by the 113....the biggest difference is the newer versions have support for XM weather.

That said, some stores still have 111's available...I was in the Severna Park MD store last week and they still had a couple of 111s left. The week before, I was in Nashville TN and the store there had them left, as well.
