Default Helpful Advice for Fishfinder

Waiting for new boat to arrive and shopping for electronics on a limited budget. Pulled out all the stops to buy the boat, but some things you just gotta have to go fishing. Last two boats were set with with Furuno FCV 667 and 582L sounders. I ran a handheld Garmin c-map 76S with the 667, and on the last boat used it as a backup to a Furuno 1850DGPS plotter. Sure hated to let it all go, but it was part of the deal, so now I need to get set up and would like to spend no more than about $750 to start, but with possibility of expanding. Really like Furuno, and am familiar with its operation, but what else should I look at? I'll probably start out with the Garmin handheld for navigation until I can upgrade and use it for backup. Also, what about a transducer. I'll be running a 21.5 ft. W/A with outboard, mostly bottom fishing in less than 250' of water. Helpful advice and comments appreciated.

Id wait and save up for the 582 or the 585 replacement. You may find a leftover for a deal.

Have you thought about a combo unit. I have a Lowrance 337 df and love it. Smaller screen than I wanted but the color sreen and the resolution are great.
