which mapping software?

Which software offers the most detail for coastal south la.
i have a lowrance lms552c.
any knowledge of this would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure about the product number? I don't see it listed under current or the last several years. Lowrance uses either their own "Nauticapath"--appear to be a Navionics base, or the Navionics chips--either the current silver or gold. If your unit has a NMC or SD card reader,you should be able to use Navionics Gold charts, which would be the best detail of the Lousiania coast. BUT check to see about the issue date of the navionics--because there are often some major changes after a storm like Katrina. For the most part these changes are mostly along the shorelines--with both outline of islands, wetlands and depths near the beach.
