Default raymarine S1 vs S1G

Okay, so I am replacing a st5000+ with a st6001. I have a 24' single hydraulic outboard. I want to troll at 1.5 to 6 knots. Nothing fancy just hold a generally straight course, I don't care about navigating to waypoints etc. Is the S1 with rotary rudder feedback okay once you get it setup/ "trained", or do I really need S1G. The $600 difference would come in handy for other items.

Thanks

Steve

The autolearn feature of the G series is nice. It sounds like it's overkill for your use. You can always add it later. It's a little box that plugs into the course computer. I added one to mine for about $475 and installed it myself. Installation took about 2 minutes.
