New boat - new electronics - a few questions

What would be the typical location for mounting a fold-down, 8' VHF antenna on a 22' walkaround without a hard top? (will have a fully enclosed Bimini)
I also purchased an In-hull transducer with my Garmin 498 plotter/sounder. I realize there will be some signal loss reading through the fiberglass, but I'm seldom in water over 100 ft. max. I hated the transom-mount on my old boat.
I haven't mounted anything yet. Am I going to be dissapointed?

On the side of the cuddy, but really aft of the cuddy area itself. Aprox 1/2 way between the aft cuddy bulkhead and where the seat's at the helm are.

Thanks, warthog5. That's about what I figured, and I can reach that area through the access panels to thru-bolt.
