Garmin has released updated software for there chartploters

Garmin has released new updated software for their chartplotters with many new features.Now you can transfer data to data cards like C-Map does so you don't have to do a serial port transfer,a great new feature!!!

So many updates for so many units all released on the same day (or 2) could make me a little nervous.

As a matter of course staying one version behind does tend to keep one from becoming a software tester.

But really one needs to look at "exactly" what the changes are then decide if it's important or not to upgrade, right now.

No Problems With The Software Updates....


Updated both a 2010c and a 182c with no problems and excellent results.

The improved WAAS results and being able to transfer;routes,waypoints and tracks to a data card,rather than a serial port transfer is well worth the effort and the results.

Just ordered the chip from Garmin to do the upgrade and they charged me a refundable $50 dollars when I return the chip. Upgraded to 5.0 in April and there was no charge but I heard others had been charged. I guess it depends on which cust service rep you contact.
