Hello,
I would recvommend the ACR GlobalFix Categorey II 406Mhz. EPIRB. This could be mounted on the side of your console or front or back, or inside a locker. It looks like there are several decent locations to mount this on your boat. Our price if you call for THT member is $850.00. You can see this unit on my website www.lrse.com . If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call 800451-2127. Regards,
Jim

Jim:

Thanks for the recommendation of the ACR system. Cool web site!! I will be in RI this Wednesday 7/20 going fishin Thursday with a cousin Capt. Billy Silvia "Dezul Charters" he hails out of Bristol and Prudence Island.

If I have the time I will stop by and check out your shop. Are you located off of West Main in the basin if so we use to keep our 31 Bertram in the Marina down there many years ago back in the 80's. I forget the name of the marnia but I think it was East Bay.

I also sent you over a request for information from you web site.

I second that. Ive had my ACR GlobalFix 406 for many years now. I can name at least 10 fisherman near me that also use the same one. Deffinitly top-of-the-line.

I'm interested - know it's after the 10th, but just found this thread, and I'll give you a call.

How does it work - in other words, must you turn it on, or will it turn on if it hits the water ?
Will it sink with the boat, or float by itself.

Thing is, if the boat capsizes, there's usually no time to do anything except hit the water - and hopefully not get hit by anything else. Then ( hopefully ) come to the surface and start coughing up sea water.
So, this said - exactly how does the epirb work please ????
