Default Venice La TUNA

wow!!!!
I had to start off with that. :thumbs up:
Went out of Venice La with captain Rimmer with Reel Peace Charters for two days.
What can I say to give this captain justice, we had a time of our lives. We caught more tuna than you can handle.
The amount of time you had to wait between fish was not long enough, you could not gather yourself in time before you had another 100 +lb tuna on.
Captain Rimmer was very impressive on finding, catching and running the boat while the fight was on (for about an hour).
As for our lodging I will NEVER stay at Cypress Cove AGAIN!!!!!
The people with Reel Peace Charters has to be the most professional guides that I have ever been out with.
14 tuna 60 to 120 lbs
2 nice wahoo
3 20/30 lb dolphin
If you are thinking about going fishing and prepared to catch alot then you must call Captain Rimmer and Reel Peace Charters. :thumbs up: :that_rulez:

Not sure if it still exists, but used to stay at the Venice Inn.

Definitely no frills, but the restaurant had good home cooking, and you had a bunk and shower. What else do you truly need?

Just watch out for the occasional Moccasin cruising the parking lot

Not sure if the Venice Inn is open. The only other option for lodging is Venice Marina, which is fine.

Bullet if you are gonna trash Cypress Cove.....at least tell us what the beef was. I have stayed at the hotel there many times before Katrina and while the price was a bit steep..... they were clean rooms, with clean sheets....and a decent eatery above the marina store.

I dont believe the Venice Inn or the Lighthouse Inn are left standing.....

Glad you had a great trip, especially with the previous boat troubles. They truly have a fantastic fishery out of Venice!

Well I left Ga tuesday to go to biloxi to pick up my boat and two more people. One was coming from Pensacola Fl. We left their and went to Venice where we thought we had reservations for tue., wed., and thur. We got there tue night and we got the suit with the kithen, well their was no tv, stove or utesales, but that was ok. the girl NICOLE let us use the room next to us. So we went fishing the next morning with Reel Peace Charter, we got back late that afternoon to find out we where locked out of our room.
Went to find out why, Nicole said we where not suppose to use that room. So she was going to charge us, well we was not crazy about that but, ok what else are you going to do at 9:00 pm.
We got up the next morning and went fishing again (also another great day of fishing) we came back and much to our supprise, our bags where packed and sitting at the office (we where kicked out for know reason). She said that the room was booked and we where to leave. There where plenty of rooms avalable ,it was during the week. She did not offer to put us in another room or nothing, she did not really care.
We had to load the boat, and get fuel in the truck then we left at about 9:30 that night. We drove all the way back to biloxi that nightand got in around 2:30 am.

She also said and I quote ( this is a $1,000,000.00 buisness and she did not care if we came ******!!!
For someone that went through a storm like they did you would think they would appreciate the business ( guess not)!!
It wasn't ever about the money really, we where going fishing and if you are going fishing you can't worry about money too much.
I am pretty sure venic marine is open.

Silver Bullet....sounds like her nosewas out of joint. You might try contacting Sonny Erich, he is the owner there ( orwas pre Katrina ) and voice your concerns with him. That certianly wasnt typical Cypress Cove Service but then ... well things have changed...all though that is NO excuse. Glad you caught some fish with the Reel Peace Guys.... I have known Peace for nearly a decade when he was fishing out of a beat up 22' GB catamaran and 50's on broom sticks...LOL. They really are a talented bunch and well Peace is just one hell of a character.
