Random Quote: Spaulding, get your foot off the boat! - Ted Knight (Caddyshack)
I have been down to Hattiesburg and Gulfport helping family, friends, and their neighbors the last 2 weeks bringing supplies and helping with clean up. I have seen how bad this area has been ravaged and I really hate to ask this question out of fear of sounding insensitive, but....are there any ramps open in Gulfport/Biloxi? I'm assuming none of the ones on the front beach are left, but maybe up in the bay somewhere?
I know fishing should be the last thing on my mind.

The water is black and smells like raw sewage.
Last I heard the waters are closed to all vessels under 30' and "the man" was stopping anyone not on a work type vessel.
Don't blame you for wanting to fish but the water is really, really disgusting right now.
A cousin who is a coxswain for the Pascagoula CG Station said he took some scientists out to get water samples and they came up like 10x what are considered dangerous levels on alot of stuff.
Can't wait till all that crap they pumped into Lake Ponchatrain makes it this way. Gonna be a long time before we recover from this one.
Thanks for the info capndano. I figured as much anyway. I was just hoping to at least get out into Back Bay or maybe make another Snapper run while I'm down on the weekends helping the family rebuild.
Best of luck to all of you Coast folks.

I heard through a reliable source, that you can travel offshore now without restrictions. I am waiting for a few cool fronts and the Wahoo to start showing up. Don't have a home, but i sure have a nice boat, so why not use it. The d'Iberville boat ramp is open on back bay, under I-110 on the north side of the bay. Stay in the channels, they have been declared clear. Hope anyone who has traveled this has not cleared their track lines, because there are very few channel markers. The lines will come in handy around Horn Island.
I just called the Pascagoula CG Station and was told that Federal Waters are now open to recreational fishing. Not sure any of my honey holes are still in the same spots, but that was good news.
I'm game
The wife is out of town until Sunday and I need to make a trip to the Coast for a visit and to get some of my fishing gear for a trip to Gulf Shores next week.
Also would like to see if my boat stereo is working since the cover to my electronics box got blown open in the storm. I'm sure some rain got in there.

I don't know how famous he is but, yes, I am fishing with someone from Clinton this week. Hopefully we get a better marine forecast than what they were predicting last I checked(4'-6' seas).
