Default Flounder gigging Mobile Bay

I'll be working (playing music) at the Grand Hotel in Fairhope first weekend in June. My wife and I have rented a waterfront camp for a couple of nights. I'm from New Orleans and am not real familiar with the Mobile area and I'd appreciate any tips on car accessible spots to go gigging. What about the shoreline around the mouth of Weeks Bay? Is it sandy bottom or too marshy for wading? Thanks Alabama guys.

It isn't a big sandy flat like the MS Coast. Mobile Bay is tough gigging grounds..

You are also limited because all of the land is private so access is only at a few spots. When I was younger you could pull off of the road and go anywhere you wanted. Not anymore.

Bring a rod. The Hotel is on the point of Point Clear. Sheepshead, speckled trout and redfish will be hanging off the point in June. DOA shrimp or a live shrimp below a popping cork will catch some fish. Look at the tidal charts - try to have line in just before a high tide starts dropping. The west side of the point faces Mobil and the river - there will be a rip line there when the tide starts going out.
