Default Stern Drive Position

Priior to Hurricane Ivan I kept my boat on a lift. However, the lift was destroyed by the storm (as was the entire marina). I had the boat repowered this summer, includint two new stern drives. My question is; should I raise the stern drives when the boat is in the slip or should I leave them in the down position.

Thanks.

I'm going to answer this for you but it's a question better suited for the Main Page

Yes raise your stern drives as far as you can simply because of growth ...

You did not state if or not they have been coated same as your bottom ....

You don't want*to keep your drives in the up position for any length of time.*It will deform the shape of the bellows which will ultimately cause them to fail prematurely. When the boat is on the trailer the engines are to be in their "running" position, so I would have to say that is the way to keep them if the boat stays in the water also. This may cause you to have to invest in a bottom coat for them, but that will be cheaper than a torn bellows.
