I drove by them this morning and folks are using all four ramps. The ends of a couple of the finger piers are gone, but, usable. I believe there is some dredging going on, but, you can get out if you're lucky enough to have some time to do so.
capt_dalton thanks for the update.
I met a friend of yours today, capt. Jeff that runs the charter boat Dorado. very nice guy. good to hear that his boat survived the storm ok.
he was telling me about some of them venice trips, sounds like fun.
The Veince trips are a blast,Chris and Jeff are both very good captains.Chris,I stopped by the house, week before Ivan after a trip but you werent home,I was wanting to take you up on that beer!!Im going out Sunday but leaving from the state docks, gotta see if I lost any of my King Mac honey holes.Give me a shout when your in town and well get a beer.
There was a ton of folks launching this morning. I suspect bait and fuel will be hard to find on the Island. Circle K is shutdown. The Chevron is the only gas station on the Island, so, there may be a line if you don't fuel up before you get here. Jemison's is planning to open at 5am tomorrow, (10/2/04), and will have whatever bait they can get their hands on. I have not been able to get in touch with Chief's Baitshop, but, if I do, I'll update their status.
Hey Nathan,
I'll be fisihing on the Underdog this weekend. What boat are you fishing from?
Chris,Ill be on "FIN-ESE" a navy blue 26 Reg.I have been to the state docks and the ramp is fine and all gas stations are open in the bayou and get free ice there so were leaving from there.Have you heard if hardtails are scarce?
No idea on hardtails. But, Nathan Friedlander tells me the rigs are loaded with displaced triggerfish. Most everyone's snapper spots are moved, gone or covered up with sand.
Cableguy,
My Suzy is a 1998 model installed new (left over new in box) in 2000. It ran good for about a year then the computer went out in it. I had a bear of a time getting it fixed. After about the third go around with the*dealer I bought it from, Suzuki replaced the whole top end. Since that day, it has been a completely different engine. It even sounds different. Hopefully, I'll get many more yaers of reliable service out of it. However, whenever it conks out, there will be a Honda put in its place.
