Will be residing at the beautiful Venice Inn. Get this, they now have suites, LOL. Fishing probably overnight Thurs into Fri morning for tuna, dolphin, wahoo, taking a rest and playing the rest by ear.
Charlie, will you be fishing for Tarpon, offshore, or playing in the bays? We may be S. of the island all or one of those days...you never know.
C, Sat. night should be a good time at the marina. The rodeo ends... free beer, food and band...should be good fun stop by the tent and enjoy.
Charlie, I believe we will try and make it out west of the river, give us a call on 68, the boat name is "Pura Vida." Last I heard was a solid green/blue line about 10 miles SSW of WD-152. Plenty bills, dolphin, a few wahoo, and huge tuna busting on the green side.
not too bad...the east shoreline south of bayou biloxi has been good to us this year
i need to go out with someone who knows how to fish inside the marsh there...i always either get stuck or get lost!
Geez, work stinks. Anyway, the week was pretty slow for us. Thurs. night I fished an overnighter at the Devil's Tower, Discovery Enterprise, and Nakika. Total for the night was one small yf and 15 bf. No surface action at all despite flying fish by the thousands. Water was green to about 62 miles, fished blue green water the whole time.
With good water so far out, we decided to sleep most of Fri. and did a little trout fishing out of red pass in the evening. We caught about 15 small trout and came in.
The rest of my family came in Fri night to fish Sat. Not wanting to take 6 offshore for the long ride, we decided to see if we could get an AJ or snapper for the board. Probably caught 50 AJ's as they were so thick, our snapper and grouper baits were getting pounded, only problem, the top fish probably only went 30lbs, not even half the weight to get on the board... seemed the bigger the bait, the smaller the AJ. It is really quite unbelieveable that a sublegal AJ can eat a 3lb hardtail...oh well. We got quite tired of not being able to get anything through the AJ's so I decided to come in shallow and try for Mangroves. We caught 10 and 4 legal red snaps and called it a day. It was so freaking hot Sat, I decided to sleep in Sun. Enjoyed the festivities Sat. night. All in all, a nice trip just nothing for the board.
Cgrand, Sun morning a bad shower came through then the wind quit, and it stayed quite nice till we left in the afternoon.
Anyone place in either rodeo. We took first place cobia at the "faux pas" Won it with a mere 30.4 lbs. Who would have ever thought that would take home $720.00. Ended the trip with 11 lemons, 9 amberjack, numerous keeper and throw back snapper, 2 monster kings over 50lbs, 1-6 ft shark and other crap fish. Tried fishing West Delta 20's for trout at night with no success. Everything caught at VK 900, VK 989, and the WD 117 area.
