Default Trout killoff in South Louisiana...

I was in Cocodrie at The Sportsman having a burger and some gumbo yesterday and a well known guide for many decades told me that the oyster fisherman were picking up unprecedented amounts of trout off the bottom in their oyster dredges. The general consensus was that because the water temperature had gotten so low, the trout didn't survive it and that the trout wouldn't float to the top until the water warmed. Anyone heard anything about this? If true, this could be a catastrophe for trout fishing.

So far we had only heard of light kills from the cold snap several weeks ago. We had heard of some red fish being picked up on the oyster beds, fisrt mention of any trout. Initial information was a very small kill, mostly white trout.
