Random Quote: Just a thought. I never said it was a good thought.
We are driving over to Venice this weekend from Florida. Is there somewhere good to stop for good sandwiches or deli meat and bread, chips, etc around New Orleans. Or should I load up here and pack up everything in the cooler?
also, I haven't been back in a while but am going back in March and was told there is now a grocery store (or type place) in or near port sulpher. There are places around gretna and belle chase to load up on stuff. Salvo's is just a must stop to eat at and I think they have po-boys also.

No reason you can't get everything you need on the West Bank. There is a Rouses' on Hwy. 23 in Belle Chase, as well as a Winn Dixie, and there is Freemans' in Port Sulphur. There is a super Wal-Mart in Gretna. There is also a store in Buras on the old highway that has most everything you could need, but it would not be my primary stop. That place is more for when you are in a pinch and need something.
Not sure about the grocery store, but Rare is right. Make sure to come through in the morning or at least try to check parade date/times. I've been stuck behind a parade in Golden Meadow and it was a mess.
For a really good sandwich or po-boy, try Capt. Larry's on rh side of hwy 23 just a couple of mile south of belle chasse there is room to park a boat there . They have bait too. Pogies and other stuff. To me Freemans in port sulphur is a good place for groceries, again it is easy with a boat. Freemans is on lh side just as you get into port sulphur.
Ya'll making me homesick even though I live in SC. Stationed there in the early nineties & fished Port Sulphur on the weekends. I could use an oyster po boy bout now.
