c'mon cgrand - I think your signature with the Steal Your Face and Dancin' Bears is worth mentioning a few pieces from JGB or Grateful Dead. I know Bertha can raise some hairs when cruising the swells...

i go with monkey and the engineer when i'm going up 'n over...just seems approproate somehow!
I have only done one of those trips (so far) and had someone else's music. I can't remember what it was right not, but mostly nothing spectacular. I like cajun and zydeco for mood and John fogarty's "Blue Moon Swamp" cd to get you moving. It isn't a popular cd and was a financial flop when it was released, but it won album of the year in I believe 1998.

I heard a few more good ones in this genre today which got me thinking a little about pulling together some music for my own skiff (20' Pursuit Cuddy WA); Simple Twist of Fate & Jack-A-Row (accoustical for cruising), Me And My Uncle (upbeat tune with good storyline)....on and on.
Blue Moon Swamp is a great album.........and if you rock that you have got to add in some good ole CCR when Fogerty could realy hit some notes.
This will be our first season with music on the boat..can't wait. Getting the ipod ready now with anything from Taj Mahal to old Pearl Jam to Alan Jackson......and got to have some tunes from The Band to boot
I agree. I keep it locked on hip hop nation might change it to lithium for a minute or two.
We were running through west delta on the way home listening to the 80's dance music channel. I ran under a gangway connecting two platforms and a guy walkin across busted a few moves for us. Pretty funny watching a guy way north of 250lbs wearing a hard hat and overalls shakin a leg.

go get you some '71 dead for the boat
either "skull and roses" or "ladies & gentlemen...", or preferably both
my research concludes that '71 offers the best boating combo of silly grins, peaceful feelings and tapping toes
