Default Saturday Report- Cocodrie

Great Morning of Trout Fishing in Cocodrie. You cna never believe the Weather Report untill you get out there. They were calling for a 70% chance of rains with 15kt winds. Well Saturday Morning turned out to be one of the calmest mornings of the year. Terreborne Bay was flat slick under blue skies untill around 11:30. Ran out to my secret unmarked oyster reef, and waited on the tide. When it started moving, the fish turned on like a light switch. My girfriend and I boated two dozen beautiful speckled trout, all in the two to three pound class. No monsters, but a lot of fun none the less. We also caught and released about 10 gaftopsail cats and I fought an acrobatic shark for a few minutes before he cut my line. A line of showers was building over the Gulf so we headed back into the mash and managed to sight cast three redfish. She had a fourth one on that probably went 10lbs or so, but it manged to break her off. Glad I didn't call off my trip due to the forecast.

Was the reef you were fishing close to wine island. I have fished a reef near that island for years with great succes. I have a camp in delacroix island and now fish mostly out of there.

Actually, It is more to the east, north of Casse Tette. I might be willing to trade coordinates with you. I do fish at Wine Island on the rocks quite often, and am always looking for new spots. A buddy of mine fished my reef on Saturday and caught about 60 trout (mostly specks, but a few white trout as well). He also caught three bull Reds, and a small Hammerhead shark.

I'm pretty sure I ran over that reef once.

HaHa. It's not one that you would hit. It's in about 4 feet of water. My buddy went out there again yesterday afternoon and caught 59 trout in about 2 hours. I will be fishing in Mississippi this weekend, but I can't wait to get back out there.
