Default 31 Contender guys, fish box question.

Hey guys, we are making our first trip Venice after Christmas. We do quite a bit of offshore fishing here in SC but our yellowfin tuna are non existent especially these 100 plus pounders you boys are catching.

All this is to say we have a Contender 31 fish around. The fish arounds do not have the forward big fish boxes the opens do. It only has the two rear boxes. They will hold a good number of dolphin and wahoo but I have never had the opportunity to stuff one of these big boy tuna in there.

Looking at Captain Eddies pictures I not very optimistic that one would fit. Now also I know I am putting the cart before the horse cause Captain Eddie makes it look easy to catch the big ones but if the opportunity presents it self I want to be ready. What is the best option? Big fish bag?

Thanks!

definitely putting cart before horse.
I have a medium canyon bag--It'll fit a 200lb tuna with the tail sticking out.

But if I did not do that what would I have to day dream at work about?

Be sure to get the 40" x 80" bag. Work pretty well.

Got a buddy that runs a sporty here that I spoke with yesterday. He is going to let me borrow his. Now I just got to figure out how to put some fish in it.

gut em, cut off allison fins, head and tail, still will be way over min size. we always get rid of head and tail and allison fins. makes em a lot more compact. if your not worried about getting checked by LWDF just go ahead and clean em.

the rear boxes are cavernous. You can fit anything under 170 in them whole and still put two or 3 50 lbers in there.

If you are really worried, bring a christmas tree saw (that's what I call them) with the big aggresive teeth. it will blow right through a head and tail.

Thats what I use "christmas tree saw" you can get fine blades and more agressive. Safest way to get it done in a rocking boat.
