It sure had been a long time! Some times you get in a rhythm with the weather and it is good on the days you are booked and sometimes you get it backwards which is where I’ve been for quite some time now, hopefully the trend is switching. Friday I had Chris Kelly and family/friends and after a year and a half of cancellations the weather finally cooperated for him. The fishing was great as well and with a boat of no longer tuna virgins I was glad to see it. It never was insanely fast but every time we hooked one fish we wound up doubling up. We ended the day with four big ones with the biggest going 148# and 128# and four small ones as well as three other big ones lost to a broken line and pulled hooks.
It really didn’t seem to matter what kind of bait you were using you just had to be in the right place at the right time. We caught fish on hardtails, mullet, and even on a little blackfin we caught on a butterfly jig. They weren’t being shy either with most fish biting 100# seguar fluorocarbon leader and 8/0 Mustad circle hooks.
This is the time of year when the tuna are typically a little larger with fish over 100# not uncommon throw in the wahoo that should be really starting to show as I’m typing this and you got the recipe for an unforgettable day of fishing.
The weather looks like its going to cooperate this week and we have some openings so give us a call to get out on the water.

I was on this trip and and it was a fabulous day. Billy was as good as it gets and we are already planning a trip back. Anyone looking for a great offshore trip this is your man. He was very personable and kept us entertained throughout the day. Looking forward to catching some more YFT with Billy. Patrick
Never noticed the date/time stamp. Although I haven't formerly met Billy or his crew I can vouch for the pictures being taken on Friday as me and a buddy watched Billy and his crew clean the fish friday nite all the while listening to his buddy's scrotum sack and trolling lure story..
I can assure you the pics were from last friday. he was about 60 miles out of the pass, the weather may have been a little different where he was but it looks pretty calm to me in the pics.
Billy's camera has been out of date for years

Guess Im going to have to look into figuring how to set the date on my camera with this may doubters around. The date changes when I change my batteries don't know why it picked 2004 but it did. Once again there were no Freeman boats in 2004. If I was willing to lie and post old pictures you would have heard a lot more from me lately. If its electronic and it doesn't say Furuno and help me locate and or catch more fish then I'm not too worried about it.
I was wondering whose big assed freeman catamaran that was docked behind us, it made our 24 regulator look like a baby..sheesh, nice boat ya got there Capt..

Ditto what Kelly reported. Cannot wait to return for my third trip with Billy.
Let's keep it simple - at Venice Marina, on the boat dock that runs parallel to the boat launch ramp(s), and almost in front of the bait/marine store (upstairs) what was the first boat on the right that never moved?
