Default Floundering

I have a small aluminum boat that I am rigging up to be a floundering boat. I live on dog river. Where are the best places to flounder close to me in Mobile Bay? What conditions to look for? Been plenty of times wading at my grandmas beach house south of fowl river on the bay. We would wait for clear water, light wind, and a moving tide. Anything else I should know? Time of year, etc?

Well just to the North of you is were the old Nancy's Resteraunt used to be. During the summer and fall we usely go soft shelling and I would usely gig 3 or 4 flounders there while picking up soft shells. While i speck fish in Fowl river @ night I see a couple of boats working the banks by push pole and I hear they do pretty good! But if you go out of Dog River and go North the bank on the left is a mud and grss bottom, I mean I have gigged a few but its worth a try but I woulld try Fowl river or any marsh bank @ night! Hope I helped. Tight lines and Good Luck!!!

Caught this one along with 3 others about the same size under the dog river bridge last weekend. Was fishing right under the bridge as the tide was going out. It was cold and i got sunburned but it was worth it. We were mostly just using lures like the one you can see in the pic and gulps. Caught a couple white trout as well.

I too live on dog river. I find it really tough as rarely is the water as clear as I like. Not saying it can't be done, but it can be tough. Anything out of the east to south east really muddies things up. When I really want to get after it, I usually go down to Grand Bay. Winter is the best for both size and water clearity.

Guys, I'm across the bay on Weeks bay and night floundering is pretty healthy over here.

Sneak the banks & they're all over.

I'm ready for a jubilee, dammit
