Default Perdido Key Ballyhoo question??

This past weekend, we were kayak trolling off the beach in Perdido Key Fl. We mainly use frozen cigars there and always catch kings and spanish. I bought some frozen ballyhoo for the heck of it and within 5 minutes I had a strike that nearly capsized my 14 foot yak. After a brief fight, the steel leader was sheared clean through. Anyone have any idea what may have hit it? I was about 200-300 yards off of the beach. Shark???

Thanks!

depends what you mean by sheared through. I am assuming the wire leader was just cut clean in one place? If so it could have been anything, shark, king etc....more than likely though, your leader may have somehow gotten a kink in it and broke during the right...Now its a fish story and you can say it was anything you want

Well, it was a new leader just out of the bag so I feel good about that. I guess I just am not sure what routinely would hit on a ballyhoo in that area that close in. We did catch a couple of Kings in the 15-20 lb range and a mess of Spanish but nothing that hit that hard. Thanks for the responses guys....
