WOW... that looks like an AWESOME vacation! Looks like it is a new operation as its inaugural trip was listed as August 2009. It will be interesting to see if they update the site with some pictures from that trip... including an actual picture of the mothership. I'd be very interested to see this self contained marina they built on the back of the mothership.

For couples who like to fish and scuba dive this sounds like a perfect vacation.

It'll never float with half day trips when the bite might not turn on untill later in the day and you can't run to other rigs to pick up the slack.

I'd rather sleep between the console and gunnel covered with a wet towel

Supposedly you can get the package where you run your own boat out and dock up in the Mothership marina. Then you can run your boat all day every day and just stay on the mothership.... saving the run back inshore. They even say they have packages where you can sleep on your own boat... but still take advantages of the amenities on the mothership (food, bar, spa, bait, ice fuel (diesel only)). Anyway.. that's what I read.....if it's even for real.

What a bunch of pessimists

LOL... I have no idea if it's for "reel" or not... but it's a great concept. There are businesses like this geared towards scuba divers so I don't see why not fishing. I guess the only downside to this type of thing being a start-up right now is the sh**ty economy.

I suppose sooner or later curiosity will get the best of me and I'll give them a call to find out what's up.

Looks cool to me, but they need to park it way out in the Green Canyon and also have fuel service. A wind reducer would be nice also

Yeah, I'm calling BS also. I doubt they have trips booked. Hell, there aren't even real pictures of anything. I might call the number to see if this is legit.

How bad azz would something like that be in Green Canyon...finish up fishing and go and dock to or let that thing lift your boat out the water. Get a hotel room, hot dinner, shower, bar, re fuel...then just put the boat back in when you are ready to fish again...I would stay out there for weeks at a time. Maybe they could convert an oil rig? Great concept

Ok I called just because I was curious. I don't think I'd ever stay at something like this.

A lady answered the phone and said they are just in the developmental stages of this. There are no bookings at this time. She said they have purchased the ship, and it is being refitted. They are hoping to have it ready in a 2 months. Actual photos will be posted at that time. She thinks they will be in the Middle Grounds first, and she's not sure if they'll make Venice.
