Default pulling small net behind boat

any of you guys ever pull a small trawl net behind the boat for shrimp and maybe bait. I'm thinking of getting a small 10-12 foot net just to do a few small pulls to bring some shrimp home. Is it worth the effort? I could use the bycatch for the chum churn as well. Thoughts and advice appreciated. Thanks

I pull a 16' trawl behind my 19' Key West CC. Usually catch between 30 to 100 lbs. in 4 to 6 pulls. With recreational lic. in La. you are limited to 100 lbs. per day.

A test trawl (10'-12') is idea for just bait and small enough to pack it away for the day. Instead of 2 ropes, rig up a bridle. Now as far as catching shrimp to take home, buy a 16' net. The difference in size is very big. There is about 4 times the webbing inbetween the to which works to hold the net open more, fish better.

You might want to look at getting one while the white shrimp are on the move, and be sure to check local regs....Good luck
