Default Bluewater off Galveston?

Anyone been out to the blue water off Galveston lately?

New to the board and to Gulf Coast fishing. I have a 27' Polar CC with twin 225's and looking to try out some fishing for Tuna, Dolphin and King's. I've read that the bluewater can come as close as 5-6 miles offshore.

Also if you live in the Houston area and are interested in hooking up and splitting fuel costs, I'd be happy to have the company. My wife and I get out on the weekends. We store the boat in Clear Lake.

Thanks in advance for any help, info, coordinates of good sites to try, etc... Thanks.

Default water color

Howdy,
Here's a shot from today showing the color change being around 40 miles from the farewell buoy out of Galveston.
All the best,

Default bluewater

Howdy,
You may want to check out the Hilton's Upper Texas Coast Atlas available at Academy or Fishing Tackle Unlimited. It just came off the press last month and is the most comprehensive chart book on the market - costs half as much as the other book and has triple the info.

In any case, check all the diffeent sites/books out, then you can decide which is best for you.

All the best,

Tom Hilton

Cool Good Morning

Thanks for the link jtburf. As jt mentioned our site is free, we are funded by sponsors thus providing the information to the user at no cost. Our bathometric contours are PRICELESS if you fish offshore and they are free, you can load unlimited waypoints in your personal map so you have everything in one FREE place, if we do not provide something let us know and we will get it. Here are some FREE screenshots that include everything from sat shots, to chlorophyll counts, to radar over every rig and semi in the gulf and all the weather buoys. The clarity is much better on the site than pasting from fireworks. Notice we even have forecasts from ships. I agree with Tom, check out everything and then make your decision, heck do all of them, ours does not cost a thing. Enjoy the day. And welcome to Texas-Offshore.com!

Default Thanks!!!!

Thanks for all the great info and support. Going to be heading from Clear Lake to Freeport this weekend and running out of Freeport on Saturday and back to Clear Lake on Sunday. Hoping to tie into something.

Thanks again for all the help.

May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face.

And to think I was going to offer to buy the beer too. Maybe that goes without saying... I am in the process of gettting into a boat right now but really feeling the itch. Would love to go out on just about any weekend but I would have to bring my significant other. Lets go out, just shoot me a line.

I just thought I would point out that WildSide and his friends JUST (Like Last Week) broke a 30 year old state record for Swordfish in Tx.

All the details are HERE....
http://www.texas-offshore.com/ftopict-434.html

The Record Has been accepted by the state....

And a PIC....
