We're gonna make out maiden voyage this saturday morning to Biloxi and HOPE I can find them biting. yeh, I know it's a bad tide day but I got the FEVOR and can't help but make the 3 hour drive down!!!!
Least with what I've found out I SHOULD be able to catch a fwe white trout and maybe get luncy on some Flounder and specks. Gonna try Katrina reef and weather permitting, horn and ship island. Using a bottom rig and then have one with a popping cork, live shrimp for bait. Any other suggestions? LOVE the site guys and look forward to getting to know same of ya

Default Thanks for the welcome. Does seem like some

good folks on here. I'm a Crappie man up here in Ridgeland but done got the Salt Water bug to boot. LOL I've had some crappy luck with charters in the past. 2 Different charters, 1 offshore for 10 hours and only caught 3 or 4 keeper snapper, triggerfish and something else TOTAL the whole time. Then 2 weeks ago down to Biloxi and between 4 of us, only had 7 keepers in a 7 hour trip. Course when you sit there for 6 hours and not move at all, inda made me mad the longer I thought about it. Captain is a Good guy BUT just didn't move us around ANY, didn't have hardly any live bait, just all kinds of things I was expecting form a Captain but he acted like he provide. I wanted Redfish, Specks and Flounder and we did get 2 flounder and 1 speck but mainly sharks and Spanish Macarel. Even after I told him we didn't like eathing them, we kept fishing for them. Thats OK, I have a boat and can go where I want to now. LOL

Welcome DonDon. Nice looking boat.

You can usually catch some flounder along the south side of deer island on an early to mid-morning high tide. Use your trolling motor very slowly, cast next to the grass, slow and steady retrieve. You will feel him hit it, when you do give him some slack for a moment and let him take it before setting the hook. If you catch a small white trout or croaker, filet him then cut the filets in half length-wise. This bait will stay on a hook longer than a shrimp and is just as good for this type of fishing. 1/4 oz. jighead, no cork.

The eastern tip of deer can produce some nice specks and bull reds also.

Good Luck!!

Default Thanks guys

Didn't know that about the white trout for bait. Have to try that one. I do have 3 rigs setup based on ALOT of reading on what to do. 1 is the Popping cork with about 1 1/2 feet or so of leader (30 lb copolimar) to a #2 circle hook with no weight. Then I have another one with a small tungston weight , the a red bead, a clear bead to a barrel swivel, then about 3 feet of the same 30 lb test leader. Last rig is topwater where I got a couple chartruese Mirrolures that are maybe 3 inches long. I hope that 2nd rig I have setup with work with the cut white trout like you were talking about, we'll see for sure!!! Just soooo ready for Saturday to get here for my first trip ever in the gulf on my own. Course it would be nice if the weather holds out where I can get to Ship and Horn but I'm not golding my breathe. Says 1 1/2 foot to 2 1/2 foot seas so we'll see. Just want to be careful. Sea Daddy, which one you be onver on the game and fish board. I looked back and didn't see a Sea Daddy. LOL Might have missed it though

Donx2,
I have been using a lot of the Gulp plastic and doing ok. They are costly but if you use a "flutter" hook they stay on and you can catch 15 or 20 on one bait. I've even had a speck up to the boat that was just holding on to the tail and was not hooked. The hooks come in 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, and 1/2 ounce, i think. They are available with offset, straight, and circle hooks. I get mine at Academy. I think Wallyworld might have a few. Good luck.

Hey DonDon,
Great looking boat! I often sit around and wonder if buying my Bass Tracker was a good idea (my daughters love it so YEAH!). I prefer Saltwater fishing having gotten familiar with Black Drum and Redfish (my fish of choice). I try freshwater fishing but the salts are another world. Welcome to the board! ~Wait, I'm new too!

Hey don, try around the reefs at the barrier islands. Good catches of nice white trout right now. These sites and reefs numbers are public nowledge and you can find them by googling them.
