You are good with the 30. Spool it with 250 lb power pro...I use a 6/0-600 lb rosco barrell swivel, anywhere from 24 oz-5lbs of lead, jinkai 500 lb leader snelled to an owner 14/0 super mutu hook. Lock the drag on that 30 and give them hell

Haha...it has taken some practice...but we just got some of that 900 lb jinkai leader and I am pretty sure I am going to snell that as well. I think that there are different types of snells...I feel like you could snell rope on a hook with my method. I will look for a tutorial online and post it here for ya

Give a Gamakatsu 8/0 4X (209418) circle with 200# trilene big game leader a try if you want to use a 30 or 50.
I'm having good luck with a Daiwa 3000 MP elec (250# PowerPro) locked down .. 80# drag.

Mako you can snell 500# Ande if you are good. Never tried the jinkai.

P.S. the CH looks fine as hell.

I personally think a 30 is a little light unless you are talking about the smaller (70-80 lb) warsaw, or if it was blue printed to put out much more drag.

I would also recommend a VERY STRONG rod holder set up. You will not be able to hold at the high drag setting req'd upon initial hookup and dragging them out of the rig/wreck etc.

The rod holder setup should be strong enough to list the boat IMHO.

-Rob

P.S. I know where to get warsaws . . .

Maybe people who can't snell 500 should quit spending all day rubbing hand lotion on in the office and do some real work

I use a Penn 30VSX on a bent butt and 150 PP to 300lb mono crimped and never have had a problem. However I will say, next time I spool the reel it will be with 250. Do any of you guys rather hollow core spectra instead of regular ole PP? I just find that once the PP is stretched and put to the test, it breaks fairly easy...

I have hollow core on a couple of outfits. It is less abrasion resistant than power pro. I haven't tried the really high pound test JB, but the 80 and 130 isn't that great for bottom fishing.
