it is June 6th, if you are not familiar with it , it is a blast. What started years ago as a small party has become a major event, a big barge with a band( and bikini contest among othrer fun stuff ) and hundreds of boats. The event is held at Ship Island, 12 miles off of the coast of Gulfport MS. The proceeds go purchase equipment for the park rangers. This year it will be first response stuff. leave a message for more details
In the past few years the event has become more tame. People bring teens and younger kids, organizers make shure that there are no "wardrobe malfunctions" . Yes, it looks like a coastie and law enforcement convention, most all of those guys are laid back and have a good time.
Looks like Jazz Fest on the water!!* I'll try to make it.* There shouldn't be too many Cape Horn 18 Bay boats our there with a THT sticker on the windshield.* That's how ya'll can spot me.* I'll probably be wearing my THT t-shirt, too.
I hate that they are having the rendezvous the same time as Billy Bowleggs. I have to pick Bowleggs over the Ship Island bash, as we enjoy running the boat to Destin for the weekend. Last year we went to the Gaspiralla in Tampa FL, Bowleggs in Fort Walton FL, and the Rendezvous.

how many "beers" does it take to get to Destin from Pascagoula?
BIG storm blew threw at the tail end.... 1 boat capsized with 5 people
in the water.... 4 other boats in distress......pretty nasty storm....
We were coming in from offshore and had to anchor up at the northend
of Chandeluer south of the light...steady state winds were 30kts with a peak gust
of 40 kts... VERY tight 4-5's with a 6 here and there...... coast guard was going
crazy... we stayed put until 10pm then pushed on home....made for a long 19 hours
on the water..... boat handled great.... twin yamahas rain like champs....
the boater blowout just attracts bad weather.
I was coming in from an overnighter to the Ram Powell when I got caught in the middle of that ferocious storm. Easy 50 Knot gust from my vantage, white foam every where. Glad the Full Deck (and others) made it back to port safely. Blue, heard you calling the coast guard for a weather update. Fortunate you were able to avoid most of the storms fury. Really tough to be back in the office today after the whole ordeal. Need to get a new pair of glasses today as the previous ones blew clear off my face when the storm first approached. On a brighter note, came in with a nice catch of Yellowfin/Blackfin Tuna.
yikes...glad all got home safely
blue marlin did you catch?
i watched that dude blow in from the power tool aisle at home depot
blew the lights out, blew the tent in the parking lot away, potted plant projectiles...
i can't imagine what it must have been like out on the water
Yea we actually dogdged SIX Waterspouts just to get offshore in the morning... down
around the horseshoe.... Mean to say thanks to the Capt on the Cape Byrd for the WX
help in the morning .....and to The Capt on the "Jason A" who helped us out during the
"storm" near north light.... he very graciously used his sat phone to make a telephone
call for us to let the ladies know we were fine and "hunkered" down ( as best we could )
3 miles south of North light..... and would be in once the wx calmed down.
MOSES...we fished the ram in the afternoon... for NADA... saw a couple huge boils on our
first pass... and that was it. Yea that was us calling for some "real time" wx... there was
a coast guard patrol boat at bouy 7 in the ship channel and all I really wanted was a sea state
and wind reading to decide weather to make the passage across from North Light to ship island
pass.... that can be some nasty water evern when the wx is good.....The coast guard was NO
use to us... they refered me to Chan 1..... I realize they were busy.... but 60 secs of their time
didnt seem like much to ask. Oh well live and learn...
CGRAND... yep... we caught a few nice bulls out at "Horn Mountain"...one cobia and an
AJ while rig hopping around going out.. and coming back......Nice rainbow runner as well...
