Default Venice La. Summertime Fishing

The fishing and weather have been excellent to say the least. Everything has been biting for the most part. Of course some days are better than others, but we come home with something in the fish box everday. Capt. Bob, Capt. Josh, and myself have had about the same results everyday out last week. The limits of snapper couldn't be easier. The bigger snapper have been coming easy if you know where to fish for them but the 4-8lbers. are the most common and you can find them just about anywhere. Same goes for the AJ's. The tuna bite has been steady as well. It is that time of the year. We started our week out last Tues. with the Rigsby crew and when I say things couldn't have gone smoother I would be selling them short. All the fish were in the right spots and they easily caught everything they wanted. The Whitfield father son crew was out on Wed. with us and they ended up going four for six on YFT and broke off about a 250lb. blue. On Friday we had the Curfman crew, they easily caught their limit of snapper and amberjack, along with a couple of grouper and on Sat. they went 4 for 5 on YFT and a very easy limit of snapper. OK, now Sunday was the slow day on Tuna for us. We had the Cooper crew. They have been to Venice 3 times prior and each time wanted YFT and shut out all three times. They told me the story of their last trip down, they had tuna busting all around their boat but couldn't get a bite. I told them that is how it goes sometimes but hopefully today would be different. NOPE. We missed the bite by about 25 minutes and 150 yds. They were going crazy when we first pulled up amongst the other 6 boats, but shut down quickly afterwards. I think some folkes are just tuna jinxed. They are out again today with Capt. Josh so hopefully they will no longer be tunaless in Venice. We ended the day with a limit of red snapper. If you are looking to have a great day out on the water this is the time to go. Lots of fish are being caught and the seas have been as calm as it gets offshore. Give us a call for your day out. We've got some open days during the week in June and July.
