Recreational red snapper will open on June 1, 2009. A closing date has not been set at this time.

That is a bit curious how a date has yet to be determined yet....June 2??? Anywho Alabama tends to forget that there really are no/very few legal snapper in state waters.

A very real impact created by the DNR by their not posting an ending date is that the tourist business suffers for late summer. Fishermen don't schedule late summer trips if they aren't positive about whether or not they'll be able to catch snapper when they're down here.

A really poor management decision by the DNR. think the Feds had something to do with it?

If there were to be any snapper in state waters, they would be long gone by June 1st when the water warms up.

I agree Lee.

However, I stll think the crazies believe the Snapper are extinct. The ones in offices reading "data" instead of out fishing!
