Random Quote: Give a man a fish and he will have a meal, teach a man to fish and he'll sit in the boat and drink beer all day.
I'm considering an overnight camping trip to Round Island (Horn if the weather allows) with my sea kayak sometime in spring. I'd like to launch from the boat launch near Singing River Island. I don't know the area.....would it be safe to leave my vehicle overnight there in the parking lot? Thanks for the info!
The city cops do patrol through "the point" occasionally. The lighting sometimes leaves something to be desired but I do leave my truck there several hours a night occasionally when I launch me flounder rig there. Some friends leave theirs all night with no problems. Seems to almost always be a truck or several with empty trailers parked there. Also a few bank fishermen there. Give the cops a call and ask if they are having any issues. They should be willing to share that info with you. The area immediately south of the ramp used to be frequented by teenagers that parked there to "watch the submarine races" on weekend nights.
