I have been charged with the task of going to Perdido to retrieve my Father in Laws boat from Zekes and bring it back to Baton Rouge. Last time I was there, I surveyed the trailer and realized that it will need some work to get it road worthy. It's a singe axle aluminum trailer which needs a new axle, and hardware. Probably new bunks, as well. I'd like to talk to someone down there and get a feel for if they would be able to fix me up if I drive down there on a Thursday night, drop the trailer off with them early on Friday morning, and pick it up on Saturday evening.
I'll do an internet search, but I would appreciate any recommendations any of you local guys have.
I've had Paradise Marine in Gulf Shores replace a broken axle for me, but a two day turn around is not likely. Call BlueWater Ships store in Foley and ask them.
You might want to try Starline Industries in Milton Florida. They make trailers for Cape Horn and Blazer Bay. I have had them
work on my trailer before and they are very reasonable. The number is (850) 994-0600. Hope this helps.
There's a trailer repair place in Robertsdale (that Paradise and others either farm out to or buy parts from). If you call Reel Yacht Brokers in Gulf Shores and ask for George, he'll give you the name and number of the place. 251-970-2628.
Also, check the Mobile Register classified. I think I saw a trailer for sale for $750, new. No idea about size, but if time is most important to you, it's a possiblility. If the trailer needs axle and bunks and hardware, then the tongue is probably gone, too. Be ready to hear a (reputable) repairman tell you that there's nothing left to weld to.
Also, PM me if you want somebody to look at the trailer and send you photos. I'm not 10 minutes from there.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. FIL has mentioned that he would buy a new trailer if needed, but he wants to at least see what it would take to fix the one he's got. The boat is a 16' Scout. The trailer has been sitting in the trailer parking lot at Sundown Condos since about 2000, so it's seen better days.
I'll give the guys you all mentioned a call and see what they think. Milton is kind of a haul from Perdido, right?
Bamaboy, I may drop you a line. Thanks for the offer.
woa, since 2000? betcha there's some rust and tire rot...
good luck. I second the folks up in Robertsdale, they've worked on numerous trailers of all sizes for us during my lifetime and they're always very nice.
Bay Utility Trailers (or something like that)
They're located at the corner of Baldwin St. and Hammond St. in Robertsdale. I Googled their location and it's wrong on the map, but these two streets are correct.
I'd give Rick a shout and see if he can run over there and take pictures for you. If I wasn't swamped with work I'd offer also. Keep us posted and goodluck!
