Default Mobile Bay fishing forecast or report?

Does anyone know where I can get a local Mobile Bay fishing report or forecast? I moved here in Sept. and have only fished the bay a few times, looking to go in a couple of weeks and trying to decide where and how to fish.

What type of fish are you trying to target?

Depending on that question you will find different seasons/temps/etc will determine
what type of fish that you will catch. Also which part of the Bay are you asking about.
You will find more species of fish near the mouth of the Gulf during the summer.

If you were to find a decent day with very light winds, you could catch large white trout,
black drum, redfish around the gas rigs near Dauphin Island. The problem is catching the
weather where there is very little wind. Otherwise most of us are fishing in the rivers,
that run into the Bay. Now when the dogwoods start to bloom, and not when we have
had this crazy weather which is finally changing the sheepshead spawn run will begin in
the Bay. When you start getting to the middle end of March you will find the specks will
begin to migrate out of the rivers & Bayou's and you can catch them in the Bays.

When you finally get towards summer, spanish mackerel, tarpon, skipjack, blue fish and
everything else I mentioned will move into the Bay, and beaches.

I forgot to mention flounders as well. I didn't mention sharks, catfish and a multitude of
other fish as well.

I would suggest you check out the ACFA forum. Alabama Coastal fishing association.
Its an inshore club, that has a great deal of information.

Todd,
Sorry about the vague question. Im actually looking to target inshore species primarily. I own a Scout 162, so offshore is probably out of the question. The 2 times I have launched my boat into the bay, I put in the north part of the bay by the causeway at Meaher St park. Depending on the weather, Im going to try to fish 1/25, and just looking where I should go and what to fish for.

Keep in mind every Thursday the Mobile newspaper has a report on what is biting &
where. Jeff Dute writes this column. Plus the local bait shops give out info. Most of us
are pretty much forced to fish the rivers south of the Causeway. Fish River is to far for
me, since I live in Mobile, but there has been a great deal of speckled trout caught thus
far.

I love to fish the Delta, but that is over for the most part due to all the flooding above us.
So I will fish Dog/Fowl/TIC (Theodore Industrial Canal)/MS marshes, Bayou La Batre. Most
of these rivers are well protected. You can expect to catch if the fish are biting, specks &
reds. Join the ACFA and you will get a wealth of knowledge, and meet some great folks.
