Default To Louisiana Fisherman Only

I'm sure that many of you are aware that large portions of once open marsh is now posted by private landowners or companies (ie, Catfish Lake near Golden Meadow and other areas). The majority of these marshes are privately owned and are becoming inaccessible to the general public at an alarming rate. The reason for this is that the waters of the state are being treated as private property. Help us to regain access and prevent the future blocking of canals and marshes so that everyone can enjoy these resources.

There is a bill in the legislature to provide for free access by licensed recreational fishermen to all tidal waters in the state, and the aquatic life in these waters.
I encourage everyone to check out the link below. It allows you to automatically send an email to your local state legislators based on your home address.

www.citizensforequalaccess.com

Below is the petition you will be asked to send to your legislators:

"We the people of the great state of Louisiana, by the powers vested in us as voters, do hereby request our state legislators, administrators, and courts to provide for free access by licensed recreational fishermen to all tidal waters in the state and the aquatic life in these waters. These things are public in nature and belong to all of the people to be used freely by licensed recreational fishermen without cost or fee."

;? I just learned about the fencing going up just outside LaSalle Parish and felt I should say somethig. I dont live there anymore but when I come back to visit these exact areas were places I would return for the memories they held.Id go to a spot where I had taken a buck, carved an old girlfriends name in a Beech tree or just walk a trail I made to think about the past. There are alot of things I could say but these folks that did this could not care less so I wont. Anger was what I first felt but further thought turned anger to sadness. I may never be able to return to this place I love so much but at least on the judgement day it wont be me answering for why its in a cage. Ill live on with the memories I have and feel lucky to have them but most of all I will try to find forgiveness for these people for they knoweth not what they do.

Waterbug
we have a situation going on north of Mobile on a lake off the Tombigbee river. It has a small creek to access the lake by. Some people bought the land around the lake from the timber companies, put in some culvert pipes and built a road over the creek cutting off access to it for boaters. The coast guard got involved and made them tear down the road that was blocking access to the lake. Then the land owners some how got approved through politics to build their road back and call it a private lake.
we are planning a boat parade in protest to them closing off access to tha lake. hopefully we can get a large number of boats to participate. with some media coverage. planning on doing it May 29th. I'll let you know how it turns out.
I think we are going to call it boater's rights to public waters.
