I'm sure that many of you are aware that large portions of once open marsh is now posted by private landowners or companies (ie, Catfish Lake near Golden Meadow and other areas). The majority of these marshes are privately owned and are becoming inaccessible to the general public at an alarming rate. The reason for this is that the waters of the state are being treated as private property. Help us to regain access and prevent the future blocking of canals and marshes so that everyone can enjoy these resources.
There is a bill in the legislature to provide for free access by licensed recreational fishermen to all tidal waters in the state, and the aquatic life in these waters.
I encourage everyone to check out the link below. It allows you to automatically send an email to your local state legislators based on your home address.

Below is the petition you will be asked to send to your legislators:
"We the people of the great state of Louisiana, by the powers vested in us as voters, do hereby request our state legislators, administrators, and courts to provide for free access by licensed recreational fishermen to all tidal waters in the state and the aquatic life in these waters. These things are public in nature and belong to all of the people to be used freely by licensed recreational fishermen without cost or fee."
