Trailering boat from Texas to Grand Isle La this week end in search of YFT. Any one have some solid numbers on some floaters straight south of Grand Isle. Been told to run out 182 degrees , but would like some exact #"s Thanks in advance.
Personally I don't know of any floaters due south of GI (doesn't mean they aren't there though). We fish GI, but usually leave from Fourchon or head SE out of GI to Mars etc. when doing the YF thing. Will be watching this thread too. You do know that you're probably looking at 80+ miles one way for Green Canyon or Miss Canyon? hope the wind cooperates!!
Ensco 7500 would be where I go...it is about 100 miles south of GI. I personally think you would be better heading out of Fourchon which is right up the road...but shaves big time mileage off your trip. How far out do you wanna be? Let me know and I will check hiltons for you and give you some numbers along with water clarity and altymetry reports.
Yep Jay is correct....Ensco 7500 has been moved from the location it has been at all summer and is now right on the shelf prepping for a journey to Australia...so take that one off your list...it is no longer in a good spot for tuna fishing.
Check the weather; looks like were getting a front. Marine Forecast is nasty for this weekend. 25kts and 6-8'. If it holds up, it'll be a great weekend to stay home or go hunting.
Boat is a 06 world cat TE with twin225 hondas. Can make it out 125 miles and back pretty easy. Looks like the weather is going to cancel our trip to LA though. Thanks 4 the info guys!
