Default Lakefront dining in New Orleans?

Any of you guys know if there are any restaurants in New Orleans that you can dock at? I remember that Jaeger's used to be a popular place but that it was wiped out after Katrina.

Landrys is where Joes crap shack used to be. You can dock there and go eat. That's about it, I believe. Unless you are a member of SYC.

and Jeagers was even worse.

Cross the lake and go to Mortons or Friends in Madisonville. Tie up in the Mandeville harbor and walk a few blocks to Rips.

A new restaurant is being built at the end of Peavine Road which is on the west side of Lake Ponchatrain north of Laplace off Highway 51. Right now there is a place with great crabs there. It is a great location worth a drive: about 30 minutes from New Orleans. There is also a backdown ramp and St. John Parish has plans for a marina in the not to distant future.

They have the best crispy fried thin catfish you can find. Definitely worth the trip. Also scenic ride around there.

Middendorf's sucks too. New owners bought it a year or so ago and it has gotten progressively worse since. Also there isn;t a good place to tie up either.

Never knew they had changed owners! That sucks. Have not been in a couple years. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'd imagine that if anyone wanted to open a good, boat friendly restaurant on the south shore, they'd make a killing.

I've been quite a few times since they changed owners and haven't noticed any difference at all...Did you have a bad experience? Friends is awesome, btw. Never been to Morton's.

The Crab Trap in Peavine has the some of the best boiled seafood I've ever had, and the new restaurant there looks like it's close. We took the boat out there a few weeks ago.

Mittendorf's just added a covered deck and boat dock. I go quite often and as for the thin catfish I have not seen a difference. The main difference is the prices went up.
