Random Quote: Manatee..... Its what for dinner!!!!
State screwed us again. Last year's sticker was $31. This year $75. I'm sure they will want more later. I've heard they want to tax boats like houses and cars each year. I'm sure that will pass as soon as Barron and the stinking greens figure out how to hide it until the last minute.
Its everywere. Here in Louisiana they are making us get a title to a boat besides the sitcker next year.Add another $15 plus a $8 handling fee.We also pay by the foot of a boat for that sticker. With 4 boats,I'm paying around $200+,but I can only use one at a time.WTF!
Just got our Homeowners' insurance bill. Here on the coast it's gone up since last year by 22%. Bastids.
The boat sticker is up 141% in a year. I think we should disban the marine police and the conservation bunch. They are mostly useless and redundant. The sheriff and CG can do everything these clowns do.

We'll auction off all the equipment, but just get rid of the departments. They are virtually USELESS to Alabama citizens and have such a minor role to play that they aren't needed anymore. The cost of the marine and conservation police on water monumentally outweighs any benefit we get from them , if we get any at all.
Here in Orange Beach, the local police Dept has both a Fire boat and a couple of Police Dept boats patrolling the waters. These guys a what you'd expect from law enforcement and don't go around busting people left and right like the Marine Police do.
I think Marine Resources is a needed agency, but the Marine Police are redundant to our local guys. In addition, they scare away tourists which doesn't help the local economy.

Ditto! They are very professional and use discretion. They are very serious about boater safety which is good. They are more likely to deliver a stern warning instead of a ticket. They also respond very quickly to emergencies. I don't know how they keep their cool with all of the once a year boaters who have no idea what a no wake zone is. I have never been stopped for anything while in OB other than creel surveys.
Do the OB police boats check fishboxes like the DMR guys do? All I really see the OBPD boats do is patrol robinson island looking for a possible BUI
The only time we've seen the OBPD in action on the water was two times where a couple of guys were fighting on Robinson...or took a swing, maybe. Other than that, the PD will give a short horn honk and wave at a boat that's going too fast in the NoWake zone. They do a little more if people have their legs over the side or a zillion people on a pontoon boat, but overall they're more of a visible sign that we can all have a good time knowing that we're not going to get mugged.
The MarinePolice are the Gestapo, take no prisoners type of group. They worked well into the night spotlighting boats over this weekend. They use binoculars, so anything within 1/2 mile, don't be hoisting a beer on your boat.
To answer your question about fish limits, I'm not familiar with the OBPD taking part in DNR activities, but there's only so much I can see from the balcony!
