6-10-08 Venice Report Took the day off for my birthday and went to Venice. Took my wife out on her first saltwater fishing trip. The plan was for a limit of AJ's and Snapper.
We headed out of South Pass. It was a little bumpy at first. Not near the 1-2ft forecast. We had problems catching bait, so the AJ's weren't too cooperative for a little while. We caught some smaller ones on jigs and dead pogies, but we finally made bait around lunch. It was easy fishing after that. We caught and released the AJ's after our limit. The two girls on the boat fought all the AJ's. And they put a hurting on them! They were putting them in the boat quicker than 90% of the guys that fish with me. The Braid Harness helped a bunch.
After that it was off to catch some Snapper. They were VERY thick. It was easy to boat a quick limit. All good fish .
The wife really enjoyed it, so she wants to go tuna fishing next. She might even come on our overnighter trip to brutus we have planned in a couple weeks.
