Default Fourchon Report

Just heard from my younger brother. The fished (well really tried to dive) out of Fourchon today. Went out to 80' and waited for my dad, who left later, to meet them. Diving was a no go as the current and murky water made it impossible. Tried mangrove snapper fishing, but caught nothing but 10# red snapper. Red snapper were very thick. Due to sea sickness they decided to start heading in. Dad decided to head further out. Not long after leaving the rig Cody spun the prop bushing AGAIN. They were able to idle in at 6mph. Took them 3-1/2 hours to get to the launch. Said it was calming down the whole ride in. Dad and his buddy are still out there. Depending on the weather they may stay part of the night out there. I'll report how they did when I hear from them.

sounds pretty rough. I met your pops last year at the kajun sportsman, nice fella. Keep those fourchon reports coming, I just moved out of there for good today and already miss the old place. I saw a few people milling about KS this morning on my way to get a uhaul, one of them looked like your dad but I didn't have a chance to stop. Good luck out there!

Finally heard from my dad. They spent the night in MC. They caught plenty fish, but not a great amount of keepers. The rig they stayed at was loaded with undersize amberjack. They also caught a warsaw, couple of moray eels, 4 cusk eels, some sort of hind and several unidentified fish. They caught red snapper at every rig frfom 60' to 400' with all but two swimming away. Only picked up one mangrove in the grand isle blocks. Said the weather was great last night and when they headed in this morning seas were less than 1'.

Dang I wish I could have went. I really wanted to try my new jigging setups.

Gmack,

We had similar results out of Fourchon yesterday. We released some very nice red snapper and found one rig that was full of little AJ's. We did get a nice little surprise when we picked up two nice triggerfish at the first rig we fished. Also caught one absolute monster redfish while looking for some amberjack.
