Default Towing big c. consoles across twin span from slidell

Question for some of you offshore guys that tow your boats from the Northshore, MS., and Al. to Venice/Grand Isle/Fourchon. If your boat is say 9.5' like some of the bigger center consoles, can you still tow across the twin span or do you have to take the causeway? Do any of you guys actually get an oversized permit for your boat being overwidth? (any thing over 8.5' is overwidth) I used to not worry with my rig, 9.5' wide but have not towed down there since before the storm? Any suggestions, thanks.

The bridge gets pretty narrow on the southbounds lanes in the sections where they repaired it from storm. Iv seen some big yellowfins and a couple of 36 contenders getting towed across so it has to be possible.

Well, the 31 and 33 contenders are like 9'-8" wide, so if they can make it, I would think i could. I guess where it gets narrowm they just take up more than their lane for that stretch. Any body towing wider than 8.5', i know some of you guys do? What about those SKA boats coming from all over?

Most people I know, time the trip so they crossing the bridge at 3-4 am so they dont have to worry about the traffic.

If you're concerned about the Twin Spans, Hwy 11 would be a closer option than the Causeway.

I drove a "semi'sized" Uhaul across the twin span towing my car, wasn't fun but I made it. Don't know the exact width, but would guess it was about 10'?
