Ft Morgan trip this past weekend
we went out Thursday afternoon, & Friday. On thursday, it was a slow biting day, nothing to keep. Fri. AM wind was blowing hard, seas were high enough where the horizon was jagged. About 10:00AM, wind was decreasing a little, we decided it was time to go out. We went thru 3-4'+ seas for miles to our favorite place. (22'CC boat) The day turned out good after all, seas started lessening, 1-3', several keeper red snapper, several Spanish Mackerel & a 3' king mac. Before we left I made everyone take motion sick meds !!!!!
Did the flies carry anyone else off? We tried fishing the rigs inshore but the flies made things just about impossible. We ended up with some nice flounder but thats about it.

Yes on the flies, we were about 5 or 6 miles out, where do they come from that far out ?? I have heard that the flies are bad on the beach this time of year,,,
i'm not sure where they come from but deep woods off didn't help much. We finally gave up just to get away from the flies. I think i'm going to try some fly paper next trip out. they have some that you can hang. i'm going to get a couple and hang them from my t-top to see if it helps.
No BS.. I had a few flies biting me 40 miles out on Saturday!! They looked like regular old house flies.. but MAN those suckers drew blood! Same deal.. we fought 3ft slop for the first 5-6 miles, and then, it smoothed out the further offshore we went. At about 25 miles out, it calmed down to around 1-2ft with the occasional 3 footer.. then at about 40 miles out, it got rough again.. with 3-4ft rollers. Everyone took Bonine before we left the house, and fortunately.. no one got sick.
