Heading to Lake Calcasieu and planning to take the Gulf Coast for the bay and the Cobia 254 offshore. I have never fished North of Galveston offshore and was hoping to get a few tips before heading out. Are there plenty of rigs to hop and how far out should I expect to have to go before getting into decent fishing waters?
Where you from Bum? South east from the Jetty boat ramp about 40-50 miles gets you 60+ feet and all the fish you love to catch. Fishing the jetty is very productive too most days.
I live in East Texas and mainly fish out of Freeport. We can't resist a fall trip each year to Lake Calcasieu. This will be my first trip offshore from there. I have good electronics to get me back so I'll head South East and start looking for rigs.
Bumfisherman I miss cool Northeast Texas mornings. Was up there for a few years in Tyler and Longview and around. If you have not taken your trip yet PM to me. I have a couple of coordinates you may find fish at.
