The grass is WAY to bad and the fishing has been way too good, so I'm hitting the gulf that day

The only thing I hunt is humans, and every day is opening day.

Spent all weekend down river getting ready and scouting and saw very few birds. A lot can change in a week, though. I'll be down at the camp all weekend for the opener.

I'll either be at the lease in Delacroix or down river by Big Ben. May even give the Cobes a go after if I go to Venice. We saw a few Cobia to the east side while trout fishing this weekend and usually there are bigger numbers in the Delta. Also saw two good groups of teal, one of them in the middle of Pass a Loutre. I can't wait!!!

In the meantime, the Tigers have to beat some Hokie a**. Turkey season opens Saturday!

I was going to hunt Teal season, but will try to get in another fishing trip or two. Will wait until "big" duck season and hopefully cooler weather.

I will take a pass if the temps stay the way they are right now. Teal season is sorta like a prik tease

Went to the lease at Pecan Island last weekend. Tons of birds--some of them teal, some big ducks. Marsh looks very healthy--I think Rita helped that area by killing undesirable plants.

Good luck on the East side--I'll let you know what happens in the West.

Went out to my lease sunday late in the even.Bands and bands of teal everywere and a sh-t load of big ducks to boot. Now I was driving around it in my jeep and the birds just came back, landing within 100'.God,I love this time of the year!My pup,5 months old is working great, hell I might bring her for her first opener.Young, yet she is looking very good.I did get a chance to shoot down some dove for her and she did ok there.Got to get out there tomorrow to fix the bind.Dam work is killing me.Now with that storm building south of texas, thats great. That should bring in rain that we need up here by friday night.95% of our lease is dry,but we had planted it with all kinds of good stuff that has just started coming up.Got the flood gates adjusted to hold about 6"-8" of water in the ponds till everything grows up some.

Cgrand got a buddy who made the haul down to the wax and didn't have a good report but I would guess thing will be out of whack after Humberto gets through dropping all this rain. By the first part of next week there aught to be plenty of birds down allong the coast everywhere.
Got IFA redfish tour. sat then will be giving them a try over around Fort Jackson. Good luck.

Hunted Delacroix this morning. Four of us were done at around 830. Had only three oppurtunities all morning although they were groups of 30+. My blind had a limit of 8 in six shells....Add a four man limit of reds by drifiting Lake John grass beds and its LSU time!!!

Finished the hunt in 10 mins with 3 limits.Had more birds then what we knew what to do with them.Had my son and son-n-law on the hunt.5 birds in two shots. That took some of the fun out of it.Will be heading out shortly for another hunt.We did get some pictures, but they are on my daughters camara.I will bring mine this morrowing.Stuck my head out the back door already and it is nice and cool with a little wind out the north. That should push somemore birds down.Good luck to all.

5 birds Saturday, limit (8) Sunday.

It was my oldest son's first duck hunt--he's 12. He knocked down 3 and winged another--all passing shots--talk about excitement!!!

I don't know who was more fired up, him or me.

Saturday I shot a box and a half of shells, to get my 4 birds--think I was a little rusty?

Sunday we did 3 limits, but it took almost an hour.Went today and didn't even see a bird.Talk to a buddy. He told me after sunday, all the birds were gone. That cold front pushed them out.Thinking of heading to Hopedale to make a hunt saturday.

About 30 miles north of Baton Rouge. Now I think hunting Hopedale is out with the weather. Then again that could push some of the birds back up to me.YES!
