I had tuna hit them in the wheel wash.If the tide is ripping add a weight with a small rubber band to help get it down.Put the weight at least 6' above the bait.

Good info here. If you see tuna in the area and you aren't getting bit, send the baits further back and consider down-sizing the fluoro leader. The leader size can be much more important than you would ever believe.

Ccab, I see you are in Addis. I live in BR now, but grew up in Plaquemine. Shoot me an email and we'll talk. pooldoo73@aol.com

If you are trying to second guess Devlin I wouldn't. Devlin is as good as they come. Some days they are feeding on small bait and just will not hit. That's what makes us keep going back.

My intention for posting this question had nothing to do with trying to second guess a man who has fished nearly every day for the past 9 years. Everyone had a rough day that particular day, the tuna dont always bite - i get that. He graciously answered all of our questions. I was just inquiring as to what some of the guys on this site do since i didnt think to ask Devlin while we were on the boat.
