My brother just called me from a crew boat. They are 10 miles from Bell Pass. He said the water was blue in ST 51 (which looking at the map looks to be about 10 miles offshore). Glass calm water. He said the "bay boats" are running wide open in the gulf.

welder thanks for the good time...glad you made it home in one piece
the company was better than the fishing, but still more than enough to keep the hookers happy
gary we were hoping we'd get the rig fish over with early and then try to find the rip, but it was a struggle to get anything in the boat so we kept at it all day

Cgrand,
Same sort of Cluftersuck @ Venice Marina also. That place has become a zoo on the weekends. It sure is funny watching some of those guys snatch those big azz triple ob cc's out of that launch!

Chris, in all fairness, they were running the Catholic high rodeo out of there Sat. My friend was the chairman. they had 250 people entered. I'm sure that had something to do with it.

I've never seen so many boats at Venice Marina as Sat morn. I ran away from where I thought most of the boats would go. When I left Medusa, I counted 13 boats. When I left Rowan Midland, I counted 7 with several coming and going in between. Ocean Quest same story, Saratoga, once again. Any grass patch, same thing. This was almost 75 miles from Tiger Pass....Did see one guy in a bay boat at Quest.....

Come on guys I want to hear the full story!!!!

If the tide is really moving it makes it hard to get in and out of Bell Pass Marina without hitting anything. Learned that last weekend. That was our first time stopping there in years. Will only stop there when needed. Bait comes from Gail's in Leeville.

ps......fishing was a little tough for us last weekend too.

Will be hitting Fourchon on this coming Saturday.

Chris, his name isDaniel Loup. I'd imagine he's a good bit younger than you....'84, sheesh.

Gmack, as far as the whole story....

We heard there were some threadfin in the Delta so we started there. Searched and searched but found only one school we couldn't get to bite. Caught medium hardtails at WD107 and headed for Medusa. Stopped at some grass on the way out and got the chicks in a frenzy and out pops four big bulls. None would eat.......and we were quickly engulfed by boats after that.

Moved on to Medusa and joined the armada. I didn't even fish for YF. Dropped the jigs and caught 5 small Blacks for chum. Decided to go SW to get away from the boats I thought would be at Mars, etc. Turned out to be boats there too. Pulled up and quickly put one bull and one medium YF on chunks in the boat before we got surrounded. Moved on to find more boats and more boats. Came back East to find some grass patches we saw on the way out. Too scattered to troll so we chunked and caught 5 more medium cows and bulls. Headed to the canyon to polish off w/ some AJ only to be inundated with Sharks and Blackfin on live hardtails. Kept 3 Blackfin and headed for the barn.

The whole story......

youngster in charge, huh...no wonder it was such a mess. tell him to put his beanie back on

gmack we ran west with a well full of croakers and frozen pogies for chum
rig hopped till we found the mangroves (at least one boat already on each rig, sometimes three...)
got em boiling behind us but they flat out would not bite, until we sized down to 25# leader, then broke off nine out of ten
welder put the only two mangroves plus one redfish in the box, i caught a decent sized lemon, and that was that...nothing else but junk
got exactly three bites on the bottom all day, nothing to show

hope it's better next time

geaux---I went to Catholic(class of '95)---was 2 years older than Daniel, I know him well. Was going to fish the tourney, but we had baby #2 a few weeks ago, and just can't get away yet. How do you know him--you go the Catholic also?

Mako, Daniel is a very good friend of mine. I went to Brother Martin, Class o' '93.

I know Daniel through a couple of friends in Metairie who went to Rummel. Started as a duck hunting thing down in Venice. I've since been involed in rebuilding the camp on Pass a Loutre and we seem to fish together at least once a month. You can't get him out the trees in the winter anymore but I now duck hunt in Delacroix with his old man.

Guess you know Jimmy, Randy, and Matt also.

He sent me some pics from the rodeo. I'll try and post them if I get the chance.
