Anyone heading out for a day at the islands on Sunday? Forecast says 1-3, but I don't trust that, especially with that tropical system in the Gulf. I think I may go anyway.
Just checked the buoy south of Biloxi. Calling it 4' with a 7 second period right now. Sounds like it's mainly swells, even though it's a little breezy just north of Gulfport.
I'm going tomorrow, either to fish the marsh, which I heard looks like chocolate milk, or try to find something to get into around Ship Island.
I'll be in a 23' Seaswirl with a black T-top and will be on channel 68.
Got to Gulfport Harbor and put in around 0550 this morning. Sat and waited and waited and waited for my 3 "friends" to show up until about 0620 and said the hell with it. Wasted a grand total of about 12 hours of my time this weekend driving down and back, prepping the boat, fixing a fuel problem, etc. All is not lost as I can now put these 3 on the "only call if I'm desperate" list.
For now on, I'm only planning on taking my family, business customers, and THTers.
Had a slow start this morning...decided not to go to the islands, instead launched the Waverunner at Delisle and cruised out to Taylor Reef then hung out for a while on the beach in BSL. Was very rough and windy so i'm kinda glad I didn't load up to go out front, as I would have had a boat load of complaining relatives. I'm really impressed with this waverunner. It has awesome range, gets 7+ mpg, and handles the rough stuff great. I even have rod holders rigged on the back. Cant wait to get this thing out to Cat Island. The idiots out there are really giving them a bad rap. While out I saw three kids on one ski fooling around in the Bay, turned so hard all three went flying off.
Yeah, that was quite a rough ride. Didn't get much fishing in, but still hung out at Horn Island for some time. The wind was a little aggrivating to say the least. Hopefully the weather will give us a break soon.... Looking forward to another trip to Ram Powell.....
