Default Fishbones on Dauphin Island

Seems the owner is against banning of gill nets in Alabama. He even stated he would post it out front of his business. Has anyone seen this or buy bait from this guy?

Are they still open? My buddy keeps his boat in the lot kind of across the street from there and it didn't look open at 11 last Saturday.

I don't think they are open anymore, the last 3 times I was down there, they where not open. I personally don't agree with gill netting, but I still bought from there. They where good people and they would bust their hump for you especially shoveling many 1000's of pounds of ice a day.

Fishbones is now operating out of the old fuel house at Dauphin Island Marina. The little house at the end of the fuel dock has bait tanks in it. He is open early and closes late.

As far as gill nets go, if they are outlawed it will not matter to outlaw netters. It'll be like prohibition times, their incentive $$$$$$$ for their catch will go up.

If there was no market, there would be not gillnets. Make sense?

This is yet another example of the well-intentioned but misinformed CCA at work. If they were truly ocncerned about fisheries, they would be pushing for a ban of shrimping within 10 fathoms. But that would entail interfering with our shrimp cocktails, and they are not going to touch that!

This is yet another example of the well-intentioned but misinformed CCA at work. Gillnets are actually quite selective according to the mesh size. If they were truly concerned about fisheries, they would be pushing for a ban of shrimping within 10 fathoms. But that would entail interfering with our shrimp cocktails, and they are not going to touch that!

I took my daughters fishing Sunday around Sand Island. I have not trolled for Spanish in years, as they (the girls) wanted to catch some. I was very surprised that we did not have any strikes or see any fish breaking the water.

If outlawing gill nets will bring back the Spanish - I am in favor 100% and I will catch my own bait.
