Default Western Basin Charts

Thanks for the help on the ways to get free charts, It really helped. I was surprised the other day as I was talking to a friend and he said he had waterproof maps, He brought them over to my house a gave them to me, There all 4 of lake Erie's areas from " Fishing Hot Spots ' They are brand new waterproof. So they will really help come spring

Yes.

Assuming your coming from the east on RT. 2, exit the highway at the first exit on the west side of the Sandusky Bay Bridge (Marblehead/Lakeside exit - Ohio-269)

As you exit the road will become 2 lanes...stay in the right lane. The right lane will curve to the right, follow it until the stop sign.

Turn right (this is E. Bayshore Rd) and look for the sign on the right side of the road (probably less than 1/10th mile)

Never bought from them so I cannot recommend or discount them. I always go to Hi Way Bait (www.hiwaybait.com). I am sure others will chime in with their recommendations

I take my perch to Bay's edge to be cleaned but get my minnows mostly at HiWay bait. If he's out, I'll check with Jeannettes or make the long drive to A & J over by David-Besse.

Bay's edge just added yet another addition to their already relatively new bait shop.

The Hot Spot maps are great for fishing. Just remember, they are maps though and not charts. If my GPS goes out, I want a chart to navigate by.

Default Saturday jig bite off Marblehead

We ended up with 19 total, we jigged them up 1/2 mile north of the Marblehead lighthouse. We set the anchor and used ice fishing techniques and baits to raise these January walleyes. You couldn't ask for a better day, weather, new prez and a mess of eyes.

Who was out today? Wife and I took a ride and stopped at Mazuriks. I would say that at about 3:00PM there were about 30-40 trucks and trailers in the parking lot. Nice perchin' day from the look of the lake from land.

And I sold my 18' StarCraft with outboard because the weather never seemed to cooperate when I had the time to go out. If I had that boat now I would be able to get out darn near every weekend.

No reports since February, many of us have our boats in the water including me. Has anyone done any good on walleye? How about perch fishing, 2 years ago May was great for perchin but I haven't heard anything yet this year. I want to go out tomorrow or Thursday for walleye after work and I haven't heard much going on. Any reports?

Has anyone been going out in the evening like after work? Last year at this time the SE corner of Kelley's was hot but I haven't heard a single report from that area. I haven't heard much reporting at all this season except some reports on OGF but a lot of those reports are down east.

I talked to a charter captain friend a few weeks ago up in Marblehead. His boats have had difficulties filling up the coolers (at that time) with walleyes. Had been kind of spotty.

I have a charter I am taking my customers on last week of June. I sure hope it heats up.

Nice to see that cooler of perch though. I sure miss going out perchin'

I have a buddy that is a walleye charter out of East Harbor and I talked to him last week. He is only a drift and cast guy, he never trolls. He said that he hasn't been able to fish any of his favorite places like Scotts Point or Buckeye Reef because the lake has been so dirty. He did give me a little tip that I always surmised but wasn't sure, find the area where the water is just a little dirty and fish the area. He said he always catches more walleye in this cloudy water than in gin clear water.

Anyone else know this little trick?
