Default 2011 dockage around port clinton

We're planning on docking on lake erie next year. We have a 23' sunrunner weekender. Looking for some advise on were to dock. The following year we are planning to upgrade to a 27-30 footer, and want to spend next year getting used to the lake and marina. Please let me know where you dock, about how much per year, and what the atmosphere is like at the particular marina.

Default port clinton dockage

Bass Haven is a very nice and clean place, per my own experiance. Brands Marine is another if I had my pick.

I'm sitting in my boat at Brands' right now, good place. I do have to tell you that a 23 is not big enough to handle the lake on a bad day, I don't mean real bad either. I have a 36 Trojan, it's a battleship, and this lake give it hell on lots of days.

X2 Bass Haven. This is my 7th season and I think it's a great marina. I don't think I will dock anywhere else. Docking is reasonable, facilities are super clean, fish cleaning station is great if you are into fishing.

Erie can be a rough ride and kick up quick, but a 23' craft will handle it fine, "if you can handle your craft". I've boated Erie for 20+ yrs and my largest was a 22'r.

I too am looking to dock in the Western Basin, and noting everyone's recommendations.
My main interest is mid-point between the reefs and the islands, floating dockage and fisherman friendly.

I've been at Catawba Moorings on Catawba Island for 10 years. Clean well run marina with all the amenities. It's also close to the islands.

I've had that boat on lake erie a few time in rough weather, and it did alright. Its a tuff 23'er. And also it will only be up next year, then we're upgrading to a 27-30'er. we stopped in at bass haven yesterday, it looked very nice with reasonable rates. Somebody told me they sometimes have waiting lists on dock space though, dont know if thats true.

Give 'em a call. I'm sure that with the economy, they should have some docks available. It's a great, family run place and they are meticulous about it's upkeep. Not sure if you fish or where you plan to do your boating but it's an easy run to the bass islands or kelley's or Sandusky bay. You can walk to the new Clete's location too. 1 419 734 2544

When I first tried to get into Bass Haven I had to wait 3 seasons before a dock opened up. Two years ago my buddy called and they had several dock available and he got right in and still has the same dock.

If I end up breaking up my partnership on the boat I have now I will be looking to buy another boat and there is no other place I would want to dock than Bass Haven. Debbie the girl that works in the office is great and has gone out of her way to help me on everything I have ever asked. The owners are super easy going and if you have dealt with many marina owners you will find this to be pretty hard to find. Every marina owner I have had the displeasure of dealing with have all been a-holes. The guys that run Bass Haven are super to deal with.

My dad used to keep his boat at Lakevue Marina. Nice people. Probably not as nice as Bass Haven, but to each his own.

I called Bass Haven today and found out they will likely have docks open next year. They give their current dockers until 11/18 to pay for their dock renewal so they will know exactly what docks will be open after then.

Please don't fill them all up because I'm planning on getting a dock there for the 2011 season!
