Default GUN LAKE in Michigan- know it?

Thinking of making a trip down there this weekend. It's about 1 1/2 hours away from us.

A few questions:

Is it a safe lake for a 14 foot tri hull with a 50 hp outboard? Or too big of a lake?

Any bar & grills we could dock at with our boat for a mid day snack?

What's a good boat launch?

Any other info on this lake would be great. I literally found it just by using GOOGLE MAPS, so know zip about it.

Thanks all!

Default What I know

I have not spent a lot of time on Gun Lake, but you will be fine with a 14 footer with a50 horse motor. (Saturday may be challenging for any boat on any lake with Gale warnings expected.) I know on Gull Lake to the south of Gun, when the wind gets blowing, 4 footers can whip up.

I do know the perimeter of the lake is rather shallow, as I remember going there with my folks as a kid and being able to walk out of from the shore quite a ways. We eat brunch a couple times a year that is on the SW end of the lake. They are right on the water and have a nice little bar/deck area. Certainly not a tiki bar though.

There is a state park which has a boat launch on the lake. I'm sure there are others, but i'm not sure where they are.

Not great info I know, but I hope it helps.
